Begin Again 04:21
Take me back to you in Barcelona I can't wait to see you again Let me call your name in a trance for now I just can't get over you We walked down the street Your smile had no distance It faded my blues away The sky is high and wide in this old town This is where I hear your dreams We stray off into the sundown This is where we seek our chance Be there for me when I'm losing my way I know you will find me Why should we wait now? There's time to begin again falling in love

Butterfly 04:28
In the morning day light, in the middle of the night, I'm standing in the silence, thoughts of you. In the lines of laughter, in the winds of March, suddenly captured by your love. When did I start feeling like this? How much longer could I care? I'm like a dying butterfly. A strange expectation is pushing my back. Don't leave me in a wrong maze like this. I hate to go alone.
3.
Like a bee Restless Now you live alone. I can't see you With tears Because you get way far. Like the sand Shifting Lines that move away. I won't leave you With fear Now you live again. I don't want to buy a hidden trap Endless cycle. I am left to see a miracle Tell me where I go from here. Hidden trap Endless cycle Tell me where I go now.
4.
Out At Sea 04:27
Velvet calm, curving space Shattered sound, naked face Hollow light, silent breath It fills my heart with emptiness I hear the Siren's song A fragile caress So now I'm not afraid, not afraid Endless time here at last Massive thirst from the past Ancient days come to rest and touch my soul with loneliness It reaches out to me, a lasting embrace So now I'm not afraid, not alone Out at sea

(translated from the Japanese) Open the windows in your eyes There are flowers waiting to bloom The flowers of millions of lives nipped off over and over Do you remember me? I'm longing to see you... I wonder, will you forget as time goes by? I wonder, must I swallow uncountable dreams? What is my life? The sun is setting on the right bank Flaxen rays following the transient sound of waves You are gently opening your arms and holding the ruined landscape Let's forget and leave time behind Let's forgive everything I go now without looking back These tears will dry one day When I see you later

about

For my third album I took a very different approach from the previous two, partly out of necessity but also by design. Times were tough in New York in the aftermath to the events of 2001. Many of the larger venues closed down and those that remained became mostly "door gigs" with little or no guarantee for the band. I managed to keep performing in smaller venues like The Cornelia Street Cafe and Barbes in Brooklyn and I was writing more music than ever but another opportunity to do a full band recording had not presented itself. At the same time I was feeling that my new material called for a more intimate, acoustic treatment, and wanted to accompany myself on piano for this one. So I stripped everything down to a trio with husband Matt and my longtime friend and collaborator Matt Renzi, with Pete Rende adding a little of his wizardry here and there to flesh things out. Pete suggested that we record it in his apartment in Boro Park (you can hear an ice cream truck on one of the tracks) and engineered it himself. And then the amazing Andre Fernandes offered to release it on his sadly now defunct Tone Of A Pitch Records in Portugal. The results are my most intimate and exposed on record. I think this is the recording where I really came into my own as an artist and for that reason I'm very fond of it. It's long been out of print so I'm pleased to share it with you here now.
