about

I wrote this song for my 85-year-old mother who was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. Through the changing seasons of her life, she wants to make herself understood. Her realization of the urgency to live as she always did means that she might have to make a fragmented shape in this late chapter of her time.

lyrics

Like unwinding tangled threads
She gets up, starts another ordinary day
Staring at the sunbeams
They seem far and near

The long journey of all these years
Her map is good for nothing but her legs can tell
How wonderful it was
How true they were
She’ll catch the late parade in rain

Invisible creatures take away
Unbearable sadness day to day

Between the scattered clouds
She finds her melodies of mysterious love
She’s dancing cheek to cheek
He seems so proud and glad
She’ll catch the late parade in rain

Invisible creatures take away
Unbearable sadness but don’t know why
The only place where she is welcome now
Suddenly in silence and the color fades away
